Advocates recently held an impromptu celebration for the new pedestrian crossing Fraser City Installations installed at the Poplars in Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast.

This site is a huge win for safety improvements as four people have died along the stretch of highway between Gibsons and Lower Road since 1994. This illuminated crosswalk will greatly improve visibility and keep pedestrians safe.

Attendees included Randene Neill (MLA), Jeremy Waksel (MoTT Sechelt Office Manager), Dr Moliehi Khaketla (Medical Health Officer, Vancouver Coastal Health) and many others.

Fraser City will return in late 2025 to make additional safety traffic signal improvements along Highway 101 at Oceanview.
